This week we reviewed some old verbs, and learned some new ones:
तोड़ = break
बना = make
काट = cut

जा = go
चला = ride (a bike), drive (a car)
देख = look/watch
कर = do
सो = sleep
चल = walk
तैर = swim
भाग = run
बोल = talk
बदल = change
चिल्ला = shout/scream

Today we learned the following words:

Today we learned words related to "School". We learned the following verbs:
read = paRh पढ़
write = likh लिख
learn = seekh सीख
We also learned the concept of blended consonants. For example if you combine स and क , it would be written as: स्क
If you combine n and d , it would be written as न्द
Today's lesson was centered around Holi. We learned various words related to Holi.
We also learned how to say Present Continuous sentences that begin with "we" (हम). When a sentence begins with हम, it ends with हैं
We are playing = Ham khel rahe hain
holi = होलीplay = खेल
dance = नाचprayer = पूजाdo = करburn = जला/जलcolor = रंग
The children were introduced to the final maatra: औ
Note the difference in the sound between ओ and औ
ओ makes an "o" sound like you would hear in the words: boat, rope, jello
The औ sound is closer to (but not exactly) what you would hear in words like: hot, call, saw

We also practiced writing our "essays" for next week. The topic is At The Zoo.
Today we learned how to say and write sentences in the following format:

We learned the word for "come": आ (aa)
We learned the word for "go": जा (jaa)
We learned the word for "take": ले (le)
We learned the word for "give": दे (de)
I am coming = Main aa rahaa hoon (boy) मैं आ रहा हूँ
Main aa rahii hoon (girl) मैं आ रही हूँ
I am going = Main jaa rahaa hoon (boy) मैं जा रहा हूँ
Main jaa rahii hoon (girl) मैं जा रही हूँ
The king is going = Raajaa jaa rahaa hai राजा जा रहा है
The king is coming = Raajaa aa rahaa hai
The queen is going = Raanii jaa rahii hai रानी जा रही है
The queen is coming = Raanii aa rahii hai
She is going = Voh jaa rahii hai
Today we learned the next maatraa: ओ (The "o" sound)
क + ओ = को र + ओ = रो We then learned the following words with the ओ maatraa: घोड़ा (ghoRaa) (horse) चोर (chor) (thief) मोर (mor) (peacock) छोटा (CchoTaa) (small) मोटा (moTaa) (fat) टोपी (Topii) (hat)
